We rolled in the New Year with a bottle of champagne on the balcony, and a variety of hotel fireworks displays over Oistins Bay.
For a brief minute we could ignore the unfinished surroundings and look ahead, but then the glow faded and we realised how much there was still to do before visitors...........
For starters, the kitchen. Upstairs. And downstairs for that matter.

A fair bit of work to be done, but we had finally pulled up all the old tiles (that may or may not have had asbestos in).
Ets less than impressed since it (briefly) limited her running space, but she still got to test the new units with the internal stamp.

So a touch of decorating to start, and finish, every day.
And then the day after, and the day after. Eat, sleep, paint, repeat.

But all work and no play makes people go mental, so we fit in plenty of rest and relaxation as well, or "island research" for the business.
Firstly we can confirm that Spiderman dances on his hands at Oistins on Friday nights.
And that Charles Howarth also dances, but on his feet.

Also water carrying - paddling pools are good for swimming, but barrels are better for brandy and rum.

We travelled to the Northern most point of the island to check out the Animal Cave, and while we didn't go down we did enjoy the playground up top.

Views were amazing, playground was better according to Ets.

We managed to do some nesting and settling in upstairs, including the main sofa and the first projector movie!
Mary Poppins Returns is banging by the way.

And a bed in Etta's room! Not her bed, yet...............

But most importantly, new arrivals to "the villa" (and yes, we are watching Love Island).

We started off with lunch in Oistins, then Pops started painting in the heat before exhausting himself and having a lie down.

We introduced the olds to doubles on Carib beach, prepping Etta for a channa poo.
And then Pops started painting in the heat before exhausting himself and having a lie down. Pattern?

Grandma and Etta painted the first of the homemade planters.
And then Pops started painting in the heat before exhausting himself and having a lie down.

But we're making progress - we have filled a skip and need another, and the place is coming together.
Serious bonding with Lonely Chick too.
I better not find him in bed with my bird.
